Clipper news isn’t erupting the last couple weeks since their playoff elimination, nonetheless there are Clipper news is out there. Here is a look at some of the Clipper happenings in the last last week links from around the web:
If you’re not a fan of the Cavs, Raptors, Thunder, or Warriors, then you’re probably paying some attention to the draft combine taking place in Chicago. Team executives and coaches have been gathering there to check out the prospects, and Zach Lowe of ESPN.com chatted with Doc Rivers about the season. Some interesting questions from Lowe, especially the ones addressing Rivers’ relationship with his son Austin. Apparently Austin had a distant relationship with his father growing up. Well, better late than ever to get acclimated to each other. Hopefully the last couple years being in L.A. have brought them closer together.
Going back to the draft combine, Rowan Kavner of NBA.com looks at some of the top performers at the combine that could be possibilities for the Clippers with the 25th and 33rd picks in the draft. My takeaway is that Zhou Qi is legit 7-foot-2, but only weights 218 pounds! What? The man is like a 7-foot twig. Is he worth a second-round flier for the Clippers though? Maybe.
Sixth Man of the Year Jamal Crawford wants to be back with the Clippers. He joined Rachel Nichols on “The Jump” to talk about the season and hoping to get another chance with this group. It’s not up to you Jamal, they might like having to that $10 million cap hold that you have from the roster. Hard to justify paying a guy over $10 million when he’s in his mid-30’s, even if he’s the reigning Sixth Man of the Year.
I didn’t even realize how busy of an offseason the Clippers have have and it carried over through the trade deadline. Rivers has made a lot of transactions (not the grocery store kind, though I’m sure he will be hitting up Ralph’s for some ice cream to cool off from the heat that’s starting to come at him) in the past year. The Orange County Register looked back on his busy year tweaking the roster.
Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey is at it again. Rumors are surfacing that Morey will pursue Blake Griffin should Rivers make him available in a trade. Another day, another rumor of Morey trying to scoop up some star player. First of all, the Rockets have a lot more issues internally with their own stars struggling to get along. Second of all, who on that roster not mentioned James Harden would they be willing to trade for Griffin? If Harden isn’t even worth trading Griffin for, then they legitimately have as much of a chance acquiring Blake as Morey has brokering peace between Harden and Dwight Howard–ZERO.
Finally, for all you Polish literate Clipper fans out there (are there any besides me?), an all Polish Clippers news site DOES exist. If you don’t believe me, check this out. Now that’s pretty awesome. They officially have a new follower of their site.
Finally, the Clippers would like to thank you for your support:
